BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH. —(COPYRIGHT) (REUTER’S TELEGRAMS.) MELBOURNE, Oct. IS. Messrs Goldsborough and Co., limited, held their opening wool sale for the present season to-day. There was a crowded attendance of English, Scotch, Continent, and American buyers in addition to those from various Australian Colonies. The bidding was active and the competition very brisk, the prices realised being very satisfactory. The catalogue comprised 1100 bales. Malting barley in fair demand at 5s 2d to 5s 4d for grain of good quality ; wheat advanced Id during the week, and is now worth 6s 8d to 6s lOd, market quiet: New Zealand feed oats unchanged at 4s 4d to 4s 6d ; milling sorts quoted at 4s 6d to 4s 8d an advance of Id upon last week’s price ; buyers holding off, and to effect sales, lowet prices must be accepted.
