Patrick Walsh, hanged at Galway for the murder of Patrick Lytton, protested his innocence to the last, and said fhe witnesses •wore falsely. Overdunk, the Nihilist, and twenty others drew lots to throw bombs at the Emperor of Austria during his recent reception at Trieste. The towns of Innischer, Stillen, Tablot, and Wllsburg, in Tyrol, have been entirely destroyed by flood. Twenty-six bodies have been recovered. The leaders of the Albanian intrigue at Scutari had resolved to massacre the richest Christians there, but were prevented by two of the Hill tribes. The garrison at Scutari has been reinforced. The Khedive has issued a manifesto declaring that England’s great interest in Egypt, both in regard to finances and traffic through the Suez Canal, compelled her, for protection of those interests, to interfere, but that there is no intention of annexation on the part of England. The new comet was discovered on the 18th, close to the sun. It was first seen at Nice, in full sunlight, by the naked eye. Wift, of New York, says the same comet was discovered recently in South America. C. W. Eymeders Young, Dutch merchant, Consul for Holland at Yokohama, was found dead in his residence, shot through the head. Twenty-seven persons were wounded in Dublin on the 2d and 3rd, by bayonet thrust, batons, and blows. On leaving Waterloo Station, London, for Cape Town, Cetewayo was cheered by the spectators. The Government give him £2OOO for expenses of the journey.
