Received Oct. 13, 1.25 a.m. SYDNEY, Oct. 12. In the Legislative Council this evening, the Hon. John Robertson introduced a Bui to amend the Land Acts by making better provision for punishing abuses in connection with the occupation of land, and for amending the existing Land Law s Bill. A Bill to amend the Acts relating to mining was also introduced. MELBOURNE, October 13. Received Oct. 13, 2.10 p,m. Lieut. Darwin, the son of the deceased naturalist, leaves here to-morrow for Queensland, to make arrangements for observing the Transit of Venus. Capt. Tupman, who is expected to arrive shortly, is going to New Zealand for a similar purpose. The steamship Ring&rooma arrived from the Bluff' this morning.
