Mr McKay produced his power of attorney from Miss Nicolas and Mrs Margaret McKay. Mr Kenny, after examining the deed in question, said he was satisfied that it was correct, but he would object to going on with the ease at present as every item was disputed, as the account ranged from June, 1880, to October, 1881, it would take some time to go through the items. The case was adjourned to the 3rd November next, Miss Nicholas being allowed 19s for her attendance to-day. NICOLAS AND CO. V. HENRI WAAKA, Claim, £l7 18a for goods supplied, of which £9 3s 5d was admitted. Judgment for plaintiff for the full amount and coats. Mr Roimy, before the civil cases were called on, said that he would like to make an application to His Worship. He hud been asked to do so by the bur. It was this —that his Worship would be pleased to altar the time of the sitting of the Court for civil cases from ten o'clock to half past tea. This alteration be a great convenience to the Ipgai profession, as frequently they were unable to have sufficient time to see and consult their clients, who very often came in from the country on the morning that their cases were heard. He might say that it was the general wish of the profession that the alteration should take place, aud he might point out to his Worship that some Magistrate’s Courts were opened for court business at 10.30 and some at 11 a.m. His Worship said that he was always willing to oblige the profession in any way, and to meet their wishes in every possible manner in order to suit their convenience, but he had always been accustomed at other places where he had acted as Resident Magistrate, to open his Court at ten o’clock. He would not have altered it on his own account, but as it Was the general wish of the bar he would do so. The hour from henceforth for the hearing of civil cases would therefore bo 10.30 a.m., instead of 10 a.m. Mr Kenny thanked His Worship on behalf of the barristers and solicitors of Gisborne. Mr J. W, Nolan asked His Worship if he intended to hold a Court on Tuesday next, in view of the approaching sitting of the District Court. His Worship said that he intended to do so. He would hold his Court in his office upstairs. At 12 o’clock, Sergeat Bullen stated that the warrant against Esther Thomas had been executed, and she was now in the lock-up, but was not in a fit state to be brought before the Court.

His Worship said that the case would be taken at 10 o’clock to-morrow morning.
