MELBOURNE, October 11. Malting barley firm at 5s Id to 5s 3d for superior quality. Shipping Wheat declined 2d to 3d during the week, and is quoted today at 6s 7d to 6s 9d. The market is dull. New Zealand Oats are in good demand. Stocks are light, and prices have further advanced 2d to 3d during the week. Feeding qualities are worth 4s 4d to 4s 6d, and milling, 4s 5d to 4s 7d. SYDNEY, Oct. 11. A large number of men connected with the iron trade, who have been on strike, have now resumed work at Mort’s Engineering Works. Received Oct. 12, noon.
This Day. The Legislative Assembly last night rejected the proposal made by the Government in favor of the erection of a national gallery and public library on the site of the Garden Palace recently destroyed by fire.
