IMPORTED STOCK.
On Saturday last there landed from the Union I Steam Company’s steamer Te Anau three prize shorthorn bulls and u shorthorn heifer, I imported by Messrs. Bloomfield and Wyllie, i from the Meadow Bank, Farm, Auckland, of j Messrs T. and S. Morrin. The first on the I list is the roan shorthorn bull Englishman, i calved on the 16th November, ISSI, and bred i by Messrs T. and S. Morrin. His sire was ! Cambridge Duke 10th, 42,876 “ Royal Shorthorn Society’s Herd Book,” and his dam Spring Flower, by Robin Adair (imported), and bred by the Right Hon. Earl Beauchamp, Maddersfield Court, Malvern, England. His g. dam was Spring Blossom, by Theodore 37th, who was by the Champion bull Theodore, never beaten in Australasia. His g.g. dam was Snowflake, by Eclipse SS, “N.Z. Herd Book, and his g.g.g. dam was Summer Morn 26, by Stentor 6th, 101 “N.Z. Herd Book.” The sire of Englishman, Cambridge ' Duke 10th, is a roan, and was calved on 3rd ! March. 1877, having for a sire the 24th Duke of Airdrie, and for a dam Red Rose 6th, by I Cambridge Duke 4th. Judging from his pedigree, Englishman will prove a valuable acquisition to the stockbreeders of the Poverty Bay district.—The next of the imported bulls is the roan shorthorn bull Dominion Duke, calved on the 16th November, 1881, and also bred by the Messrs. Morrin. His sire was also Cambridge Duke 10th, and his dam Sincerity Second, by 9th Colonel Tregunter, 62 “N.Z. Herd Book.” Sincerity’s g. dam was Sincerity, by Lord Stanley, g.g. dam Truthful, by Prince ; Rubina, g.g.g. dam Trustworthy, by Knightly. g-g-g- <Lni Truth by Cardinal, g.g.g.g.g. daui Hebe by Lord Stanley, g.g.g-g.g.g. dam Bright Eyes by Wallace, g.g.g.g.g.g.g. dam by Newton, g.g.g.g.g.g.g.g. dam by Childers. The pedigree of Cambridge Duke 10th we have already given. The next animal to be noticed is a roan shorthorn bull Cossack, calved on the 21st November, 1881, by the Messrs Morrin. His sire was also the Cambridge Duke 10th, and his dam Maid Marian by Robin Adair (imported), and bred by the Right Honorable Earl Beauchamp, Maddersfield Court, Malvern, Englund, g. dam Pauline by Eclipse 88, “N.Z. Herd Book,” g.g. dam Particle by Duke of Edinburgh 9th, and g.g.g. dam Purity by Stenton 6th. There is also a roan shorthorn heifer, namely, Meadow Bank Witch, calved I 21st November, 1881, bred by the Messrs T. and S. Morrin. Her sire is Lord Dufferin by the Duka of Newcastle, champion bull at the Sydney Metropolitan Exhibition, 1878, und her dam i.s Tho Witch by Wizard 3U,334 Coates’ Herd Book,” g. Jam Carlson by i Hawkeye Sth, “N.Z. Herd Book,” gg g. I dam Clariosa by Ivanhoe 32, “N.Z. Herd : Book,” g.g.g.g. Clarion by Knight Templar I 20,090, “Coates’ Herd Book.” We trust that the stock above mentioned just imported by Messrs Bloomfield and Wyllie will give the utmost satisfaction to our cattle breeding farmers, and that tho expense that they have been put to, viz., about 550 guineas, will be amply recouped to them. The undertaking is a bold one and deserves the success which should attend such an enterprise.
