CABLEGRAMS.
BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.-(COPYRIGHT.) [REUTER’S TELEGRAMS]. Received October 6, 1.15 a.m. ALEXANDRIA, Oct. 4. The brigades of artillery which have been serving in this country, are now re-embark-ing for England, and the various battalions uf Indian and British troops, comprising the Indian contingent, are embarking at Suez for the Indian station. Oct. 5. The embarkation of troops no longer required here will bo carried on continuously from to-day. The preliminary enquiry into the recent rebellion is now proceeding, and a large amount of evidence has been taken by the Royal Commission appointed by the Khedive to conduct the prosecution of the rebel officers. CONSTANTINOPLE, Oct. 4. It has transpired that the Sultan has pressed Lord Dufferin to state definitely the date upon which the British troops will be withdrawn from Egypt, and declares that he will appeal to the European Powers unless the British Government arrive at an early decision on the matter, LONDON, Oct. 5, The “Times” publishes a telegram in this morning’s issue to the effect that the English officers possess documentary evidence of Arabi’s complicity in the massacre of Europeans at Alexandria and other places.
