The marble bust of Mr Frank Buckland, subscribed for publicly, ami presented by Prince Christian to the authorities at South Kensington in May last on behalf the subscribers to the “ Buckland Memorial Fund,” has been placed in its permanent position, a most appropriate one, the entrance to the Fish Museum, South Kensington. Another ship canal is being projected at home. It is proposed to divide by a cutting fifty feet wide and twenty feet deep, the narrow isthmus which, dividing the east and west lochs of Tarbet, unites the Mull of Kintyre to the mainland. Such a canal will give a direct pa sage from the Clyde te the Atlantic, saving about 115 miles in the voyage to the west and north of Scotland. It is estimated that the uudertAkiiig will
