CORRESPONDENCE.

[We do not hold ourselves responsible for the opinions expressed by our co espondents]. TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —In noticing the remarks of your contemporary in last night’s issue regarding the Hospital, it seems to me that this institution is sought to be managed by an interested few whose ideas are more for personal gain than for the object for which it was founded. It seems to me, according to the “Herald” version, that the public who support this institution do so to help cases of this sort, so that it is cheaper and better for invalids to go into the Hospital and pay the regular charges than to pay through the nose for nursing and attendance outside. Now, my opinion of the matter is this—that the Hospital should be open for one and all, and not be favored by a petted few; and, perhaps, the red tape business might be a little improved on. The public support this institution to help those who immediately require it, not for those who can pay—on the other hand, more so for those who cannot ; and those who take advantage of it and can pay should be made to pay ; and those who cannot—through misfortune, perhaps—should not have it thrown in their teeth, and be dragged through the columns of a newspaper. —lours, &c, Dried Hash.
