THE GISBORNE YACHT SAILING CLUB.
A MEETING of the members of the Club was held ou Saturday evening, Captain Andrews in the chair. The Secretary stated that there were now twenty-four members enrolled.-—The rules were then read and adopted.—The object of the Club was to be the encouragement of yacht and boat-building and yacht and boat sailing in Poverty Bay.—The officers should consist of a Commodore, vice-Commodore, Treasurer, and Secretary, who were to be annually elected at a general meeting of the Club.—The five members of the committee are to have the entire management of the sailing matches, and the general working, with the exception that the expulsion of members and the formation of new rules must be considered at a meeting of members of the club. The Annual subscription was arranged to be five shillings, and the smallness of the sum should induce very many to join. Several other rules were passed. It was also agreed that no yachts, or boats, the property of more than one owner shall be allowed to contest in any event, or hoist the Club colors unless each and everyone interested in the boat is a member of the club. The club Hag will be white with a blue maltose cross, and the burges of the Commodore and vice-commodore wore chosen. The international code of signals in connection with the club were adopted. The following officers were appointed :—Commodore, Captain Andrews ; vi :e-Commodore, Mr H. Boylan; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr E. H, Pavitt. As there were six members proposed and only five to be elected, a sort of ballot was commenced in connection with the Committee, and resulted in the following gentlemen being elected Captains Porter and Kerr, Messrs R, G. Gibbons, Tabuteau, and E. K. Brown.
