RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.—GISBORNE.
This Day [Before M. Price, Esq., R.MJ LUNACY FROM DRINK. Sergeant Bullen stated that James King, charged with the above offence, was quite unfit to be brought up before the Court this morning. He was suffering from a very severe attack of delirium f remens, and having been arrested at an early hour this morning, he was not in a fit state to appear. He would ask for a remand. The Sergeant then called Dr Henry Pollen who stated that he had examined King in the lock-up this morning, and he was certainly not fit to be brought up. He was suffering from a .very severe attack of dtl rium tremens and it would be a few days before he could be brought the before Court, he might state that in all probability he could be brought up on Thursday next. His Worship then remanded the accused for medical treatment until Thursday next, when, if he was sufficiently recovered, he could be brought up.
