PARLIAMENTARY.
[per united press association. - ] Legislative Council. WELLINGTON. The Council resumed at 2 p.m. yesterday. The Property Tax Bill was read a ffrat time, and the Life Assurance Bill was postponed until next year. A resolution of the House of Representatives as to the custody of the Parliamentary Buildings w y as agreed to. The Conference on the District Railways Bill reported that they considered the question of privilege should be deferred until next year. Mr Mantell moved the second reading of the Wellington Cemeteries Bill. The Premier moved it be read that day six months, which was carried. Mr Oliver moved the second reading of the Education Reserve* Act Amendment Bill. Col. Whitmore objected, and the Council divided. Ayes 15, Noes 5. The Premier moved the second reading of the Property Tax Bill, which was carried. The Council then went into committee on the following bills : —Property Tax, Licensing, and Education Reserves, which were reported and passed. _ The Appropriation Act was read a second time, committed, and passed. The Council rose at 5.30 p.m. until 2.30 today.
