MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —The retiring Councillors havd shown a great want of moral courage in not meeting the electors publicly to discuss matters of local interest. It would appear that they are afraid to meet the censure of a public meeting for the misdeeds in the past. I would ask, Where is the £lO,OOO Ioan? Has it been fairly spent ? Will Gladstone Road ever be metalled by the present contractor ? Who gave him £lOOO over his contract price ? Would Councillors have done the same with their own money ? Why were fresh tenders not called for ? Why was the bridge erected in Grey-street ? Has any Councillor property in that direction ? Who wanted to raise another £25,000 to squander in water ? Who forms good footpaths opposite other people’s houses? Who neglected the wharf accommodation? There are many other minor subjects which I might touch upon did time permit.—Yours, etc., Elector.
