OUR SOMNOLENT REPORTER. A VISION.

“I had a dream a happy dream.” In my vision I saw five candidates for Municipal honors. They were all good men and true and much were the minds of the burgesses exercised as to whom they should vote for. The excitement continued throughout the polling day, and here and there were gathered knots of voters discussing the merits of the several candidates. Babel was simply a fool to it. After endeavoring to note down the various remarks passed the result was as follows :—“ Well theres not the slightest doubt lie’s a go-a-head sort of chap and if there is oil in the district, well at least the drugs aud japanese he sells are tbe very best heart of kauri he puts in his shop, and for coffee tea and che xp coffins to say nothing of furniture he can’t be beat. Well for public spirit cheap groceries good honest workmanship clever dispensing of medicines and a thorough knowledge of paraffin I’ll defy any man to beat him. This last assertion was made so loudly that I awoke. Once more I slept. The poll had closed and an eager throng stood anxiously awaiting the result. Suddenly the magic words were pronounced by the Returning Officer— TOWNLEY, CLARKE, SOMERVELL, Are declared to be duly elected.. If this vision should not be correct dame it to a severe attack of Page’s gingerale.
