THE SAILING CLUB MEETING.

A meeting of the above club took place last evening, at the Masonic Hotel. There were about 17 persons present. Capt. Andrews occupied the chair. After Mr Boylan had explained the real object of the meeting, the following motions were put and carried : — Captain Porter proposed, that in the opinion of this meeting it is desirable to form a yacht and sailing club, to be designated the “Gisborne Yacht and Sailing Club.” Seconded by Mr R. G. Gibbons. Proposed by Mr Tabateau : That a provisional committee be appointed, consisting of Messrs. Boy l an, Croft, Gibbons, Andrews, aud Bexiy, for the purpose of framing rules to be submitted to a meeting to be held next Tuesday; and that the annual subscription be ss. Seconded by Mr Johnston. Proposed by Mr Croft: That this Club is formed to promote the building and sailing of yachts and boats in Gisborne. That after paying all current expenses of the Club, the balance to go towards the purchase of Cups, as prizes to be sailed for, Seconded by Mr E. Pavitt.

The enrolment of members then took place, comprising the following : —Messrs Andrews, Boylan, Barnet, Johnston, Porter, Tabuteau, Berxy, Piesse, Croft, Gibbons, Morris, Smith, Oxley, Stubbs, Christie, E. H. Pavitt, and E. A. Pavitt.

Mr E. A. Pavitt was elected secretary pro tem., and it was agreed to hold a meeting next Tuesday, the 19th instant, at the same place. The meeting then adjourned,
