L egislative C ouncil. WELLINGTON, Yesterday. The Council met at 2.30. Mr Ngatata presented a petition against the Crown Land and Rating Bill. The Wellington Cemeteries Bill was read a 2nd time. The amendments made on the Law Practitioners’ Bill from the House of Representatives were agreed to, as algo were the amendments made in the Auckland University College Bill. On the Land Act, 1877 Amendment Bill being called on to go into Committee, Sir (L Whitmore, in a long speech, thought the Bill ahould be put bnuk till next Bcsdon, and

The debate was in.ezrupted by the 5.30 adjournment In the Council last night the Land Bill was considered in Committee. Iu clause 2 where one third area was struck out one fifths was substituted. The clause as amended was carried by 12 to 9. At clause 27 progress was reported. The Native Reserves Bill passed through Committee-
The Patea Harbor Land Bill and Tea Examination Bill were read a third time and passed.
