CORRESPONDENCE.
[We do not hold ourselves responsible for the opinions expressed by our correspondents], :o: TO THE EDITOR. SIR,—I want to ask you a question. If I pay to go to a soiree, can’t Igoto a table and have tea! If so, why should Mr Scotter turn me out of a seat to eat the leavings of other people '—Yours, etc., School Boy. TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—ln a local of your issue of the 23rd inst., in re Police v. Wilson, for furious riding, certain reflections are made—one in particular on the name of Mr Pegley. This, I think, was in bad taste. Mr Pegley has his own name, viz., Pegley, not “ Pegleg,” and I, as a traveller on the “ Gisborne-Ormond Road ” during the last fortnight, can certify that as an A.C., Mr Pegley is a man who not only maintains his Position, but also tries to prevent “ furious riding,” the R.M. to the contrary notwithstanding.—Yours, etc., Gibson K. Turton. TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Can you inform me who is in charge of the hose belonging to the fire engine. I saw, yesterday, a length of hose supposed to be stretched over some iron pins, being curious I looked at the hose and saw that it was damaged through being put over the iron pins. Now, Sir, whoever they were who caused the same pins to be used I cannot say much for their judgment. Wooden pegs would have been proper I should have thought. Being a subscriber to the fire engine to a small amount I certainly object to money or goods being wasted without a word being said. I hope the above-men-tioned hose will not be wanted for years to come, but should it be required no doubt some one will blame the promoters for not securing an article that will not rust upon iron.—Yours, etc., M. Halt
