EXTRAORDINARY PASSAGE ACROSS THE ATLANTIC. From the “ Glasgow Herald ” of Bth June, we take the following ;—The passage from New York to Queenstown has been accomplished under seven days. The Guion Company’s steamship Alaska—built by Messrs. John Elder and Co., at Fairfield—which has already made a name for extraordinary steaming to and from New York, has made the passage from Sandy Hook to Queenstown in the unprecedented time of six days twentyone hours and thirty minutes. The last passage homeward of this ship was in seven days and twenty-six minutes. The builders were sanguine that she would beat this time by some hours, and their anticipations have been realised in the splendid run the ship has just made. The Alaska left Sandy Hook at 6 p.m. on the 30th May. She passed Crookhaven at 5.15 p.m. on Tuesday evening, and ai rived off the harbor at 8.15 p.m. She has, therefore, accomplished the passage in the time stated above after deducting the difference in time between the two places. The following is the Alaska’s log :—May 31st, 307 miles ; June Ist, 400 miles ; June 2nd, 408 miles; June 3rd, 411 miles; June 4th, 412 miles; June sth, 407 miles; June 6th, 400 miles.
