The following are the names of the 12 players forming the team and the counties to which they belong:—Hon. Ivo Bligh and E. F. S. Tylecote (Kent), G. B. Studd, C. T. Studd, G. F. Vernon, and C. F. H. Leslie (Middlesex), A. G. Steel and Barlow (Lancashire), W. W. T. Studd, who bowled so well against the Australians ; Bates and Barlow, whose performances as members of Shaw’s professional team are familiar to all
cricketing colonists ; and Flowers and Barnes, both well-known professional bowlers, claiining allegiance both to Notts county and the Marylebone Club. In batting the team is wonderfully strong, as every member of it is a more than capable performer, and several are reckoned among the finest batsmen in England. C. T. Studd, who has on two separate occasions scored over 100 against tho Australian team now in England, is regarded as one of the finest batsrpen of the day; while C. F. H. Leslie, A. G. Steel, W. W. Read, G. F. Vernon, and G, ’ B. Studd are all brilliant performers. 1 The four professionals are also first- 1 olass batsmen, and altogether a danger- I ous quartette. E. F. S.
