Aqe Specials. LONDON. August 4, 3.5 p.m, The Queen has gone to Portsmouth to inspect the troops prior to their embarkation for Egypt. The report that a surprise attack was contemplated by Arabi on Alexandria, has proved to be a false alarm.

A special mission from tho Porte to Arabi is regarded as possible. A Punjaub Chief has offered to assist the British Government in Egypt with either men or money. " Ascus” Special. LONDON. August 3. Parnell and Dillon have joined the Executive of the Laborers League and agitation is consequently expected.

August 4. Lord Trevellyan has promised to enquire into the alleged grievances of the police force. The majority of the fishing smacks reported missing have returned safe. However a large number have been lost and numerous fatalities are known to have occurred.

SHIHOVS HNGASHMHNT. [Beuteb’s Special.] ALEXANDBA. August 5. After reconnaissance in force, made yesterday of the enemys position and outposts near Damanahour, Sir Archibald Alison returned to camp. Shortly after the British had returned Arabi "advanced for Damanahour with a large force and had reached the neighborhood of Bamleh, about five miles from this oity, when General Alison gave orders for an attack. The British troops thereupon advanced and opened a vigorous assault upon the enemy on three sides. A serious engagement is now proceeding, but no particulars are yet to hand.
