Shortly after the British had returned Arabi "advanced for Damanahour with a large force and had reached the neighborhood of Bamleh, about five miles from this oity, when General Alison gave orders for an attack. The British troops thereupon advanced and opened a vigorous assault upon the enemy on three sides. A serious engagement is now proceeding, but no particulars are yet to hand.
