The first Colonial Naval Cadet under the new regulations, Edwin de Villiers Lamb, who was nominated to a Royal naval cadetship by his Excellency Lord Augustus Loftus, successfully passed the necessary examination at Auckland, on hoard H.M.S. Nelson, and proceeds via America to join H.M.s. Britannia nt Dartmouth.
