RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.—GISBORNE.
This Day. [Before M. Pbice, Eeq., B.M.] Polios v. Bell. The defendant wo. charged with making use of filthy and obusive language on the Ormond Road. Mr Nolan appeared for the defendant, and pleaded not guilty. 8. Egene, wa. then called, and stated, that ho was an engineer at Makaraka, and whilst he was at work Mrs Sorry sent for him to prevent defendant from breaking into her house. He went over, and told him to go awsy. He eaid ho did not care if he was locked up ae hie things were in that houee, and he would have them. It was within hearing of the road. Sergeant Bullen aeked to have the information amended, ae it bad been made out incorrectly, as the offence occurred on the Ormond road, inetead of the Makaraka road. Mr Nolan objected to have it amended | and Sergeant Bullen applied for a freth information to be made out, which was granted. J. Bovexb (town clbbk) v. J. Bbixxbb. Charged with driving a vehicle along the footpath. The defendant pleaded guilty, but stated he could not help doing it ae the road wae in luoh a fearful state. J. Warren was called, and stated that ha saw defendant driving along the footpath, for about 60 or 60 yards, and that they can pasi aleng ths road without going op the footpath. His Worship stated that tne defendant had no business to drive on the footpath when it was proved ho could travel on the road, and considering the case he would only find him Is with costs fie. The Court wae then adjourned.
