Makaraka Race Meeting.

(“ Tips ” by an ex-clairvoyante.) I promised that if unsuccessful in my “tipping” about the late meeting at Waer-enga-a-hika, I should give up “ spirits,” and tout legitimately. The latter portion of this resolution I have carried out, but the former is hard to act up to. In my present communication, I fancy that my “ tips,” will be found to be satisfactory to backers after all is over ; and if care and attention can make my prophecies reliable, I can assure all that nothing has been left undone to render them so. In the first race—the Hurdles—l can see nothing to beat MORNING STAR, but should his owner select to save him for the Roseland Stakes LUCK’S ALL must be my choice. Roebuck cut up badly on Wednesday last and Lizard does not. seem at all fit. Seagull is a good one, but will have to come a lot vet. M ild Dayrell arrived in Gisborne from Auckland, on Wednesday morning last, looking well, and as he is said to be in good hands, and to have improved greatly, I shall look to him to finish a dangerous horse. The Maiden Plate should be won easily by the HATRED COLT, as he is the only one in it barring the Squire, and he has other work to attend to. In the Roseland Stakes MORNING STAR will have to carry Bst 3lbs, and should win it with the Squire and Hero close up. The Shorts Handicap will I think result in a desperately close race, and with the advantage of having a thorough jockey up, (which I hear he is to have) THE CAT, at 7st 81bs, should shove his nose (1 had almost said paw) into the treasury for the stakes. Hoping that the meeting will be favored with fine weather, a good attendance, and closely contested races—result, success ! EX- C L AIR VOYA N T E.
