(from ouk own cohkespondents). CLUE TO THE PIKENIX PARK ASSASSINS. London, May 9. Several persons who have recently arrived from the United States have been arrested by the police in Ireland on suspicion of being concerned in schemes of the Land League. The police have arrested in Dublin a cabman who is believed to have been employed by the Phoenix Park assassins, and it is supposed that a clue to the murderers has been obtained. It is announced that George Otto Trevelyan, Secretary to the Admiralty, has been appointed Chief Secretary for Ireland, but without a seat, in the Cabinet. A statement which was circulated yesterday that the Lord Mayor of London had been requested Io summon a public meeting, with the object of petitioning the Queen to dissolve Parlia ment is authoritatively denied. New York, May 9. The new Chinese Exclusion Bill pro hibiting Chinese immigration to the United States for a period of 10 years, which recently passed the Senate and House of Representatives, has received the assent of President Arthur. Brisbane, May 10. In an action Bulletin v. South New Zealand Gold Mining Company of Gympie, a verdict has been returned for the plaintiff.
