The match between Mr J. Gallagher’s (of Taupo) Te Whetu, and Mr J. Gallagher’s (of Auckland) Catch-’eni, for a £lOO aside, took place on Saturday afternoon last, on the Auckland Steeplechase Course. The rain was falling heavily, Catch-’ein baulked, Te Whetu jumping in grand style, eame in an easy winner with a lead of about three miles. There were a great many people on the ground to witness the match, despite the inclemency of the weather. Te Whetu was most fancied.
