The members of the Ministry have presented Mrs. Hall, the wife of |the late Premier, with a handsome piece of plate, in token of the cordial relations that have existed between Mr Hall and themselves, and also their appreciation of the courtesy and kindness received from Mrs. Hall. The Hinemoa sailed for New Plymouth last evening. Te Whiti, Tohu, and other chiefs awaiting trial will

embark there and be conveyed to Christchurch. The Hinemoa will probably call in here on her way down. Patea, April 24. A serious mishap occurred to Cobb’s coach at the bottom of Patea Hill today. The coach was going on steadily, when the leaders shied at a dray on the road, and the coach went over a slight embankment, and capsized. It was full at the time. Mr Hutchinson, solicitor, of Wanganui, was severely injured, and a young lad sustained a serious scalp wound, and is not expected to recover. No blame is attached to the driver. Haweba, April 24. At Manutahi, the body of a Maori has been exhumed, and a post mortem examination was made by Dr Smith. Chiefly through the influence of Tauroa, a Patea chief, the inquest is now only delayed until the coach arrives with the coroner. An inspection of the place where the body was found shows beyond a shadow of doubt that no fracture of the skull could possibly have occurred from a fall, the road being soft and free from stones The mare deceased was riding was quiet and not in the least likely to have kicked him. Inspector James and Detective Jeffreys are present. Christchurch, April 24. A rather serious case of stabbing occurred at Leeston on Thursday last. A man named Young and his wife were quarreling when the wife’s brother named Horne interfered, and severely handled Y’oting.
