The prisoner William Hart, who was convicted on a charge of rape on a little girl at the last session of the Supreme Court, underwent his first lagging in gaol this morning. Cliarics James Ihinnett, convicted of attempted rape on a child, was also Hogged this morning. The punishment inflicted in each ease was deservedly severe. Christchurch, April 17. Sir George Grey telegraphed to the Christchurch Tinies denying the statement that he had telegraphed to a friend ai Christchurch to the effect thal the Governor hail asked him to form a Ministry, and he was prepared to do so.
