(from oub own correspondent*). London, April 3. The Sculling Match between Hanlan and Boyd for £lOOO was rowed on the Tyne to-day, and resulted in a victory for the Canadian by four lengths. The contest is described as having been a hollow race, Hanlan winning without difficulty. Information was received to-day from Ireland to the effect that at Westmeath a landlord named Smythe has been fired at and killed by Mrs Smythe and a relative. Telegrams to hand report that the steamers Yarrackbat, 1500 tons, of Bilboa, and Douro, eame into collision off the west coast of Spain, in the neighborhood of Cape Einisterre. Both vessels foundered and 35 of the passengers and crew'of the Douro were saved, and 67 of those on board the Yarracbat. Later. Further telegrams to hand regarding the collision of the Spanish Coast now state that 120 lives have been saved from the Douro alone, but that the Captain and officers have perished, both vessels had a large number of passengers on board. The very latest intelligence to hand state that 66 persons have lost their lives by the disaster, of these 30 were on board the Yarracbat, und 16 on the Douro.
