[From oua own CoRRBsroNDXiTsJ. A MAN KILLED. Auckland, March 27. A young man named Henry McQuid, laborer, was found dead yesterday morning, on the Onehunga road, with the mark of a cart-wheel across his head. He was last seen alive after midnight, drunk, and it is surmised that he fell asleep on the road and was run over by one of the early milk carts. The driver of a milk cart says his horses shied at the point where the body was found, but he took no notion of the circumstance.
SERIOUS STABBING CASE. Samuel Cox had an altercation with another colored man named Hill, on Saturday night, in a restaurant, and stabbed him twice on the head with a table knife. Hill lost a quantity of blood, and his wounds are considered dangerous. Cox has been arrested. Timabu, March 27. At a meeting held at Fairlee Creek it was resolved to urge the Government to complete the Albury railway extension, and telegraph to that place. At a general meeting of the New Zealand Grand National Steeplechase Club it was resolved to hold the annual races at Christchurch during the Exhibition, instead of at Asburton. Chbistchubch, March 27. , Mr. John Curnow, B.Ai, formerly head master of the Normal School, and who was appointed a few weeks ago an Inspector under the Board of Education, died yesterday, aged 33 years.
