[From oun own Correspondents], London, March 18. St. Patricks Day passed off very quietly in Ireland, no disturbance of any note having occurred in any part of the country. The House of Commons has passed a resolution approving of a Charter granted by the Government to North Borneo Trading Company. Ten thousand six hundred bales were offered at to-days Wool auction, and a fair demand was experienced. Paris, March. 18. The French Press generally urge that negotiations should be re-opened between England and France for conclusion of fresh commercial treaty. Melbourne, March 18. At Windsor Slation, on thesurburban line of railway, a train of empty waggons, which was standing iu the station yard, was run into by an express train, the passengers in the latter, were much shaken, and several of them suffered slight injuries. The express had a narrow escape of becoming a total wreck. The Government has now decided to complete a defence of the Colony and to reorganise the military force, and arrangements have been made to carry out work with the least possible delay.
