NEW PRESERVING INDUSTRIES.
A Fruit Preserving Company has been started in Dunedin. The premises were opened recently. At pre--ent there i« in operation, one boiler capable of turning out four tons of am per week, while others are being •reeled. They wiil ail be heated by team, like those used in the principal Liiish factories. One hundred and ixty pounds of jam were prepared viihir half-an-hotir. Tins, labels, &e., will all be manufactured within the Colony. The first 25 ca<es of jam iave been ordered by the L'ni.m Company. Orders to amount of £I,IXO are already received. No difficulty is antieip.Hed as to supply of irui’. though a quanti’y of respberriea has been received from Tasmania.
