(FROM OUR own correspondents). Wellington, Feb. 2. Newt is just to hand that a man named Finn has been burned to death at Mr John Perry's station, Upper Taneru, while burning scrub. Tlie body was found in a gully, the scrub being burnt all round him. lie was last seen alive about 2 o’clock on Wednesday afternoon. Auckland, Feb. 2. A 3-days* match between the All England Eleven and an Auckland 22 team commenced to-day. The weather was splendid, and about 2000 persons were present. Capt. Lambey vus umpire for Auckland ; Liilywhite acted in the same capacity for the Eng.whinen. The Auckland team won the toss and ■elected to go iu and were all disposed of fur 122 runs. February 3. The cricket match was resumed to-day, Uiyett and Barlow taking wickets to the bowling of Lynch and Lankhatn. Uiyett •commenced scoring with a single off Lynch in the first over, and Barlow followed with three singles, then Lankham disposed of him with a very pretty ball for 4,1, and 3. All attempts at a settlement of the dispute between the Union Sash and Door Company and the men on strike have failed, and the men have finally left, the Manager refusing to pay more than a day’s rate for two extra hours’ labor. The Sybil took, yesterday, a quantity of Bay of Islands coal to Tahiti for the French Government.
