(from our own correspondents). Wellington, Jan. 18. A despatch has been received from the Agent General with respect to the establishment of direct steam service. He is negotiating with an eminent shipping firm on the subject, and plans for vessels fitted for the service have been prepared. A conference will be held between those rested in the service, when the plans, and the whole of the proposals on the subject will be be discussed and Sir Dillion Bell hopes to forward particulars by next mail. Oamaru, Tuesday. The match between the All England Eleven and an Oamaru Twenty-two was continued to-day, and resulted in a win for the English Team in one innings, with 29 runs to spare. The local team did not do as well as was expected.
