BOXING- DAY “TIPS.”
(By Horseshoe.) The race meeting on Monday next (Boxing Day) promises to be highly successful, that is, if the number of acceptances, and the very satisfactory prices received for the privileges, by Mr Montagu Smith, the energetic secretary of the coming meeting are any criteria. Tiie clerk of the weather seems to have made up his mind that pleasure seekers shall enjoy themselves without being choked with dust, on the one hand, or drenched with rain on the other. My selections for the day, bar accidents, will be :— Handicap Hubdles. Lizard ... ... ... ... 1 Luck’s All ... ... ... ... 2 Boxing Day Handicap. Morning Star ... ... ... 1 Flatcatcher ... ... ... ... 2 Distbict Stakes. Flatcatcher ... ... ... ... 1 Gisborne ... ... ... ... 2 Maiden Plate. Gisbornp ... ... ... ... 1 Carnival ... ... 2 Ladies’ Pubse. Morning Star ... ... ... 1 Carnival ... ... ... ... 2 [We would advise our readers not to place too much reliance on the “ Tips ” of our sporting contributor, but to wait until our next issue—which will be on Thursday morning—when we shall furnish the real “ Tips,” and show how money might have been made.—Ed. S.]
