Oamaru, December 21. The first case under the Gaming and Lotteries Act was heard yesterday, when Tomas Wilson was fined os, without costs, for betting on the race course.
Patea, December. 21
The Collector of Customs at Wanganui has prosecuted here in three cases under the Beer Duty Act. Yesterday, W. J. Gibbons, brewer, was fined £2O and costs for using a wrong stamp, the magistrate holding that the penalty imposed was a fixed one, but recommended a rebate. Francis Mullen and James O’Sullivan, publicans, were each fined 20s and costs for using wrong stamps.
