Another of the lights of science in France, M Rabourdin, has taken part in a discussion of the Anthropological Society of France, as to whether the dog descends from a wolf. M Rabourdin stated that he had brought up a wolf that is now “ six vears old and as gentle as a lamb ,” it is remarkably intelligent, opening < oors by turning handles ; when it hoars a clock strike, it stands on its hind legs to look behind, and moves the hands round with its paws. M Rabourdin states that this wonderful specimen of the wolf genus is fond of perfumes, lives on good terms with the poultry and other animals, though showing a great aversion for eats. Its bark resembles that of a dog.
