The criminal session of the Supreme Court commenced this morning. Hari Wahu, for horse stealing, was sentenced to two years. Christchurch, Dec. 12. The Eng’ish cricketers have finally accepted the terms offered by the Canterbury Cricket Association, for a three days’ match. A sad accident occurred on the River Heathcote yesterday. A boy named Campbell rode his horse into the river, and was thrown in deep water; two men, Thomas Kerr and John Smith, swam to his assistance ; Kerr reached Campbell first, but the latter,’ grappling him round the legs, disabled him. Smith made desperate efforts to help Kerr, but was unable to keep him above water, and Campbell and Kerr were drowned Smith escaping with great difficulty. Kerr leaves a wife and several children. Ti.maru, December 12. The locally-owned barque Ganymede, with 500 tons coal on board, brought alongside the wharf th s morning. This is the largest vessel that has yet been alongside.
