[From our own Correspondents]. London, Dec. 9. The Lord Mayor of London invites national subscriptions to assist iu the defence of property in Ireland. A collision occurred to-day between three trains on the North London Hailway, resulting in the loss of nine lives, and many others injured. At to-day’s wool auction 7,300 bales were catalogued, making a total of 129,200 bales offered since opening ; a good demand was experienced. Immeense Conflagration. Disastrous Loss of LifeVienna, Dec. 9. A disastrous conflagration accompanied with immense loss of life, occurred last night in this city. During the performance at the theatre, a lighted lamp fell on the stage, and ignited, the fire spread rapidly, the flames blocking all means of exit. Over 300 corpses have been extricated from the ruins. Later. Five hundred corpses have now been extricated from the scene of the late fire, and it is feared that the total loss of life will be ful’v 7ao Washington, Dec. 9. The Convocation providing for an exchange money order system between the United States and New Zealand and New South Wales, was to-day signed by President Arthur. Sydney, Dec. 10. The Cricket Match between the English Team and an Eleven of New South Wales was continued to-day ; the Englishmen’s first innings closed igt 272 runs. When the stumps were drawn for the day New South Wales’s score waa IG4, with a loss of three wickets.
