London, Dec. 2. At the wool sales to-day, 8,800 bales were offered, and the prices were firmly maintained. The body of the late Earl of Crawford and Balearres was stolen to-day, from the mausoleum at Aberdeen ; the object of the theft is believed to extort a ransom from the relatives of the deceased.
Paris, Dec. 3
M. Rqustan, the French Resident Minister at Tunis, has arrived in this city, and it is currently believed he has been superseded in his position, though nothing definite is known.
M. Gambetta the President of the Council of Ministers, made a speech to-day, in the course of which he stated that his Government would not object to the European control of affairs in Tunis if such was desired by the Powers,
Vienna, Dec. 3.
Relations between the Austrian and the Roumanian Governments, are at the present time much strained ever the question of the navigation of the Danube. The Austrian Government has in the meantime suspended all diplomatic communication with the Roumanian Principality, until Count Kalnioki, the new Austrian Premier, has examined into the points in dispute between the two countries.
Washington, Dec. 3
The Irish National Convention, sitting at Chicago, passed a resolution in favor of a National Government for Ireland, based on the will of the people. Another resolution has been passed, endorsing the “ No rent ” agitation which is being carried on by tenants in Ireland.
Sydney, December 30.
The cricket match between the English eleven and twenty-two of Bathurst, was concluded to-day, and resulted in a victory for the visitors by 76 runs.
