Tologa Bay.

[From Our Own Correspondent], Things generally in this district are very quiet now. The Land Company agents have been here obtaining the signatures of Natives for some new block, and I understand have been very successful. Dr. Scott is proceeding with vaccination among the Maoris, but the work is greatly retarded from the difficulty of obtaining a supply of lymph, from either Gisborne or Christchurch. The Doctor has now obtained a calf from Mr. Cameron, and innoculated it, and hopes to get a good supply of lymph therefrom. He will then proceed up the coast as far as the East Cape. The Natives are anxious to have the operation performed, and this will speedily be done when material is to hand.

The weather has been very unsettled during the last two or three days, and heavy rain accompanied by high winds prevailed nearly all Saturday and Sunday. Wool is coming in from Mr. Reeves’ station. The Rosina called here the other day, and took 26 bales. Shearing on other stations is being pushed on rapidly.

The arrival of Mr. McDonald on his election tour is anxiously expected. It was reported he was to to have been here on Friday last, but no signs as yet. It think he will have a “ very warm ” reception.
