The Waerenga-a-hika Jockey Club.
A meeting of the members of the above club was held last Wednesday evening at tho Chandos Hotel, Ormond. The balance-sheet showed that £163 had been paid away in prizes, and other necessary expenditure, and that the Club had still a balance in hand. Mr. J. Maynard was elected Secretary ; Mr. P. Barrie, Treasurer ; Messrs. Devery & Austin, Handicappers ; J. B. Poynter, Judge; Clerk of the course, Mr. A. Pritchard ; Clerk of the scales, Mr. S. C. Caulton ; Starter, Major Pitt ; Stewards : Messrs. Caulton, Barrie, Breingan, Cooper, Dofeman, Maynard, and D. Page. » The following are the prizes agreed upon : Hurdle Race, £4O sovs : Hack Hurdles, £lO, Maiden Plate, £2O ; HsCndicap, £5O ; Ladies’ Purse, £25 ; Consolation, £l5, and a Hack flat race of £lO. The programme is attractive, and we hope the entries will be numerous.
