Mr Allan McDonald AT MOHAKA.
ANOTHER CONUNDRUM
[From the AE airoa Mb. Gardiner : What effect will the Representation Bill have on the North Island ? Mr. McDonald: It will give Otago and Canterbury a preponderance of votes, so that they will be able to swamp anything that comes before the House. Mr. Gardiner : Then it will be injurious to the interests of the North Island ? r Mr. McDonald: Yes, I believe it will have that effect. Mr. Gardiner: Yet you voted for it? Mr. McDonald: I voted for it because it was good for my district; it gave two members to she East Coast, that is one for the Bay of Plenty and and one for this part of the East Coast. Mr. John Musker: Are you for the Grey Ministry ? Mr. McDonald: I belong to the Grey party. Mr. Musker: Then I won’t have you at all. (Laughter). [The query is : Which was his Party?] ;■
