Messrs. OPPENHEIMER & Co.
We have lately been favored with a few particulars' regarding the revolution the firing, whose name heads this notice, have made in the particular trade to which they draw attention — namely, that of importers and manufacturers of American hardware, ironmongery, &c. Messrs. Oppenheimer’s place of business is in Custcrm House Street, Auckland, where they have recently become established, but, in a short time have succeeded in pulling together a large connection, and are rewarded in their enterprise with a daily increasing business. A descriptive advertisement will be found in another column, from which will be gathered the precise nature of the goods Messrs. Oppenheimer are prepared to supply. One item, amongst others, seems to draw great notice, viz., that of the American Fencing Company’s steel barb fence’ wire (an article generally quoted in Colonial markets at from £6O to £65 a ton) whereas the price quoted by this firm, for their own special line is £42 10s and £46 respectively, free of all charges delivered in Auckland. Mast Foos and Co.’s world-renowned iron turbine wind engines,, also, claim a special notice. It is said that these engines are now in almost universal use, superseding nearly every other thing of the kind, on account of their handiness and cheapness. They are quoted at from £lB 18s to £22 15s. But it is not to ironware that Messrs. Oppenheimer confine their attention. They deal largely in what is known as Goodell and Waters’ wood-working machinery ; and in every description ; of American buggies, wagons, carriage materials, harness, and general hardware ; and the reputation they have already achieved, not only as importers, but as manufacturers, stamps them as business men who have studied well, and are able to supply the requirements of the Colonial market. We learn that it is a rule of Messrs. Op.penheimer’s business that none but the very best goods are imported, goods they can guarantee, and which do credit alike to themselves, and the manufacturers whom they represent. They undertake none but first-class agencies in America, the consequence being that a perfect confidence has been established, and there need be no fear of a departure from the orders they receive. Messrs. Oppenheimer’s connection is rapidly extending itself over the North Island, and when it is considered that they sell at manufacturers’ prices and not at importers’, the cause of it becomes apparent. Messrs. Oppenheimer and Co., have some new lines shortly to arrive, of which due notice will be given in our columns.
