Fancy Dress Ball.
Ok Tuesday evening last Mr. Montagu Smith gate a private fancy drees ball in McFarlane e Hall, at which there were about sixty couples present, invitations having been issued for many more who were unable to attend. The Hall was variegated with flags, and festooned with just a sufficiency of ornamentation as to make the mite en tcene one of a most intoxicating kind when the floor was occupied with the Terpsiehcreans, and dancing in their several costumes. The catering for creature comforts was entrusted to Mr. Allanach, whose “high art” in that tineef business is proverbial; and, when we say that the music was provided by members of the Battery J Band, there is little else to be said. The social compliments incidental to such gatherings were exchanged at the sapper table, and the party resumed dawning about one o clock. The following is a list of the cosLannes.
