London, August 13. The Standard, in its leading article in to-day’s issue, in reference to the Irish Land BiU, states that moderate Conservatives in Parliament condemn the tactics of the Marquis of Salisbury, and his followers in the House of Lords, in dealing with the measure in the House of Commons. To-day, a motion condemning the adoption of a system of specific import duty by France, was, after debate, rejected. In the course of discussion Sir Charles Dilke stated that the Government was determined to conclude no fresh Commercial Treaty with France, which would act to the prejudice of British trade. 14th August. The Irish Land BiU was again under consideration in the House of Lords to-day, when the original amendments, made in committee, were insisted upon by large, majorities. Earl Granville, in the course of debate, solemnly protested against the action of the House of Lords >; the Bill*« recommended, was, however, agreed to, and its reconsideration will be resumed in, the .House .of Summons on Monday next.
