(FROM OVR OWN CORRESPONDENTS.) Auckland, March 11. Mr. Buckland reports at Greyhound sale to-day—Hay 2s 3d to 3s 6d the cwt,; Praririe grass seed, 4s 3d ; maize, 3s 3d a bushel. Horse stock in larger numbers than usual, steady inquiiy for those adapted for farming, prices ranged from £lB to £35. Napier Regatta. Napier, March 11. The Inter-Provincial Representative Race.—Prize £3O ; second £5. Napier Rowing Club 1; Union 2 ; Gisborne 3. All got away to a good start, . Gisborne boat showing in front; Napier gradually drew ahead until near the bridge, when the Union boat passed them and tried to take the Napier water, and a foul was the consequence. The boats got clear and continued the race. Towards the finish the contest between the the Union and Napier crews got very exciting ; but at a most critical moment No. 2 in the Union boat appeared to be in distress, and caught a crab, Napier winning by a few feet. The Gisborne boat appeared not to be in the race up to a quarter of a mile from home, but were gradually getting up with the leaders being beaten by two lengths for 2nd place. Senior Fours.—lst. prize £l5 ; 2nd prize £5. Union Ist; Napier 2nd. This was a well contested race. Towards the finish the Union men appeared to be coming in easily, when Napier made a splendid spurt, and almost passed the Union. At the same time something went wrong in the Union boat, and they finished badly, but winning the race however by a length. Canoe Race.—Prize, £2; Lanauze; 1 : Siddle, 2. An easy race, Lanauze coming in as he pleased. ' • ;
Junior Fours; distance; 1 mile; first prize, £lO ; second prize, 4 clocks.—-Electra : O’Connell, stroke ; Connolly, 3; Poole, No. 2 Edward, bow; Scanlan, cox. Napier, 2; Union 3 This race resulted in the best finish of the day. The Napier actually leading until close on the Judge’s stand, when the Electra crew made a spurt and passed their opponents, winning by a nose. Pair-oared Race; first prize, two medals —Napier Lilly, 1 ; Napier Rose, 2; Gisborne’ 3. This was an easy victory. The Gisborne boat being put of it, owing to their boat being full of water previous to starting, having to wait at the post half-an-hour before the race came off. Swimming Race ; prize, a Cup.—Begg 1 • Lanauze, 2. Won easily.
