RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT, GISBORNE.

Friday, February 18th, 1881. [Before M. Price, Esq., R.M.] IHAIA TAMAIARA V. F. GOLDSMITH. Claim for 19s 6d, being change of a £1 note handed to defendant in payment of a sixpenny sandwich at the recent races at Waerenga-a-hika. Plaintiff and two witnesses swore to the non-payment of the change ; whilst the defendant and a witness deposed to the money having been put down on the counter before the plaintiff. Mr. Turton appeared for the plaintiff, for whom judgment was given for 19s 6d, and costs of Court, Bs.
