Thornton Dot Troupe.
company gave another performance on Saturday night last to a fair house ; and, we were glad to see with more success than formerly. The same pieces were presented, with variations as on previous occasions Miss hornton played her parts with usual excellence, and enacted the blinding scene from King John with more than average ability. She looked the character she represented, and spoke
with a due inflexion of the voice, which showed that she had studied it well. The “ dots,” created much amusement. The Burlesque passed off with success, and sent the audience home in a good humor. We are glad to learn that, in consideration of the poor financial results arising from their visit to Gisborne, some of our local amateurs have consented to tender Miss Thornton the compliment of a benefit night, in Macfarlane’s Hall, and a very attractive bill of fare is in course of preparation for the occasion. We doubt not, if the matter is properly organised, success will attend their efforts. We heartily wish that it may. The programme to be presented will be found in another column.
