MATAWHERO SCHOOL.

On Mr O’Sullivan’s rounds, he visited the Mendlesbam school, which was prettilj’ decorated and great taste was displayed in the arrangement of the large bunches of Rowers which they brought as an appreciation of his advent. Over 50 children were present, and the answering was very brisk. The Inspector expressed himself in favor of a larger school being built, as the present one was far too small for the iScreasing.number of children, thei’e;being over 100 in the district ; and as the school is not in a central position, it makes it rather difficult for the pupils to attend. But, slill, through all these disadvantages, the pupils muster strongly, which tells well ; and is sufficient proof of the excellent and efficient manner in which Mr Bolton has conducted the school. The midsummer examination is to take place on Wednesday, 20th December, when prizes will be awarded. Visitors are requested to attend to hear the examition, of which due notice will be given ; after which there w ill be a soiree, andithe ladies who so kindly came forward last year, are again to the front, to add to the pleasure of the children, by largely supplying them with the good things of Egypt. We may also mention that the examination at Mr Bolton's evening class at Gisborne, will come off on the following evening, when prizes will also be awarded. — Communicated.
