GISBORNE ROWING CLUB.

An adjourned general meeting of the Rowing Club took place on Friday evening last at the Masonic Hotel, Mr W. F. Crawford in the chair. The minutes of last meeting having been confirmed, the Secretary read a letter from Captain Read, expressing great pleasure in becoming President of the Club. Mr Stubbs gave notice of motion to the effect that Bule 12 of the Club rules should be rescinded, and that one fifth of the members on the roll constitute a quorum at auy general meeting of the Club. The following new members were elected. Messrs Gilman, J. T. Morgan, A. L. Kelly, Hague, and T. McCabe. The custodian was authorised to get the “Spitfire” put into a proper state of repair with as little delay as possible. The secretary was instructed to write to Napier and Auckland to ascertain the cost of building a new gig for the Club. Messrs Crawford and Stubbs were deputed to make the necessary arrangements for a new site for a boat shed. ~ The meeting decided that the opening of the season should take place on Friday the Bth prox., and that the public be requested to join with the members of the Club in making the ceremony a success.
